BODEGAS I. PETRALANDA

Bodegas Petralanda is a family owned winery producing quality wines in the age old Riojan tradition. Situated in the Village of Fuenmayor, approximately seven miles west of the Riojan provincial capital, Logroño. The village borders the river Ebro to the north and lies at the foot of the Cantabrian mountain ranges. The geography, soil make-up and climate provides an optimum environment for the miles after miles of vineyards which dominate the Riojan landscape.

The wines produced at Bodegas Petralanda are categorised into two brands.

• Viña Zearra
  Young wines and Crianzas (1 year in the barrel)
  
• Marqués de Zearra
  Reservas and Grandes Reservas (3 and 5 years in the barrel respectively)

A careful and measured approach to winemaking ensures the continued quality of our wines, whilst drawing on the many years of experience for which this region is famous. From the pruning of the vines in late January to the careful harvesting of the grapes in early to mid September, the Viticulture follows the traditional methods of Rioja.

On optimum maturity of the grapes, when the sugar and acids form a perfect balance, the harvesters deliver the fruit to the cellar were the process begins. Being a family owned winery all members of the family are involved in this annual process which in principal has changed little over the centuries. Today the process is largely mechanised with modern crushing machines, steel tanks and testing laboratory, however, the procedure is still the same.
